PELHAM – In the only contest on the ballot in Tuesday’s annual election, incumbent moderator Daniel Robb defeated challenger Joseph Leonard Jr. by a vote of 117-28.

And Alisa Christine Pearson, who was running unopposed for a Select Board seat being vacated by Mark Santos, was elected with 145 votes.

A total of 163 ballots were cast, which is 15.6 percent of Pelham’s 1,046 registered voters.

Incumbent Judith Eiseman, who ran unopposed for reelection to a five-year seat on the Planning Board, received 126 votes. Alexandra Dewey, who was appointed to the Planning Board last year, was elected to a one-year seat with 128 votes.

Robert Rowell received 137 votes in his uncontested bid for reelection to a three-year term on the Board of Assessors.

Nobody ran for a one-year term on the Board of Assessors and there were no write-in votes resulting in a “failure to elect.” Town Clerk Kathleen Martell said that means the Select Board may appoint somebody to that position.

Nobody was on the ballot for a three-year seat on the Board of Health. Former Select Board member Richard Hall received five of six write-in votes. He will take the seat if he chooses to accept it, otherwise it becomes a “failure to elect” because second place finishers in write-in contests are not eligible to serve, Martell said.

There was only one person in the ballot for two, three-year School Committee seats. Incumbent Darius Modestow received 127 votes. The top write-in vote-getter for the other seat was Cara Castenson with 51 votes.

Only one candidate ran for two open seats as library trustees. Gayle Barton received 134 votes. The top write-in candidate was Gale Hubley with seven votes.

The top vote-getter of three write-in candidates for a three-year seat on the cemetery commission was Scott Barton with 22 votes.

John Trickey received 136 votes in his uncontested bid to serve as the town’s Hampshire County Council of Governments councilor.
