Bald Eagle

Route 202, Granby

Photograph and text by Anne E. Ely, South Hadley

Toward the end of March stopped at the Granby Senior Center on Route 202 to see if there were any ducks or herons on the small pond that borders the parking lot. I had just pulled in to the parking lot when dead ahead in a tree was a bald eagle.

Thank goodness the parking lot was empty, because I screeched to a stop and rolled down the car window. I was able to capture four or five images with my hand held DSLR camera and a medium length telephoto lens.

I had just set the camera down for a second to watch this beautiful bird when he decided to take off. Even though he did a lazy circle around the pond before he rose up and disappeared I wasn’t fast enough to get a in-flight shot. Next time!
