Amherst

Officers found windows damaged at 1:50 a.m. Wednesday in a vacant building at the Amherst Carriage Shops complex at 1 East Pleasant St. that is being demolished. Workers on the construction crew confirmed the window vandalism at 7:01 a.m.

Police are investigating a break-in reported at a Strong Street residence at 8:40 p.m. Tuesday. 

Five people loitering in the Kinsey Memorial Garden behind the Jones Library, 43 Amity St., at 7:29 p.m. Tuesday were sent on their way by police. 

Northampton

Peter D. Lucia, 32, 301 Damon Road, was arrested at 4:26 p.m. Tuesday after police said he drove away after his vehicle hit the rear of another vehicle in the parking lot of Cahillane Auto Body and Towing, 32 Damon Road. A witness who reported the incident provided police with a description of Lucia’s vehicle. Police said they found the man near Damon Road and charged him with operating while under the influence of alcohol and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.

Samantha Ross, 50, of Haydenville, was arrested at 1:53 p.m. Tuesday on charges of driving with a suspended license and failing to meet motor vehicle safety standards. Ross was stopped after police determined she was driving a vehicle with a rejected inspection sticker.

Easthampton

Patrick J. Macchi, 33, of Holyoke, was arrested on East Street at 6:46 a.m. Wednesday on a warrant.
