I take pen in hand rather reluctantly because I love Easthampton – my home and the area in which I live.

However, the horrible condition of many of its roads is truly the worst in my memory. Main arteries such as East Street and O’Neil Street are a tragic mess of patch works – they surely test the suspension systems of our cars.

The political leaders of Easthampton say that “we don’t have the finances to repave our streets.” Are we taxpayers expected to believe that this abominable conditions is to exist in perpetuity?

I implore our leaders to innovate – to explore options to improve this shameful condition, (Clark, Parsons and Everett streets have been partially repaved, which is a positive step.)
