The top-ranked UMass men’s ultimate team had high expectations entering the Division I College Championships.

They went unfulfilled.

Zoo Disc was knocked out in the first round of the championship bracket Saturday, falling 14-10 to Minnesota in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Zoo Disc closed pool play Saturday at 3-1. It beat Texas A&M, 15-9, and Washington, 14-13.

Jeff Babbitt finished the tournament 18 goals and seven assists. Ben Sadok had 10 goals and 13 assists.

Women’s tournament

Amherst Regional graduate Angela Zhu and Dartmouth reached the quarterfinals Sunday, where Princess Layout fell 15-13 to Virginia.

Princess Layout beat Washington, 15-11, in the first round of the championship bracket on Saturday.

Dartmouth closed pool play at 3-1. It lost 13-11 to UCLA but beat Western Washington, 15-9.

Zhu finished with seven goals and 38 assists to lead Dartmouth. She added nine defensed passes.
