Hampshire Regional High School in Westhampton has a reputation for being an excellent school for many reasons, especially for the dedication of its teachers and staff.
Often, teachers who go above and beyond go unnoticed. This past year, our son had the privilege to work with Christy Parent, a special education teacher at Hampshire Regional. She is a caring and nurturing teacher who goes out of her way to meet the needs of all students.
Her commitment and compassion helped our son make so many gains. He is now ready and looking forward to attending ninth grade.
Educational advocates can also get lost in the shuffle. We are very fortunate to have Nancy Farnsworth, an educational advocate with Community Resources for People with Autism in Easthampton, as part of our team. She is highly professional and skilled, as well as warm and kind. She had our son’s best interests at heart.
Irene Ryan, director of pupil services, facilitates and conducts individualized education plan meetings to help meet the needs of each student. Together, we work collaboratively to see that students, like our son, receive the best education they can, despite their disabilities.
My family is grateful to Hampshire Regional and this team for making a difference and for creating a successful school year.
