The Audubon Society has reported a variety of recent bird sightings in western Massachusetts.
Up to seven red crossbills were found near the summit of Mount Greylock.
A northern parula was reported in Pelham.
A northern goshawk was seen in Savoy.
A black-crowned night-heron has spent two days in Forest Park, Springfield, and two pine siskins have also been seen in the park.
Uncommon resident species reported included: common merganser, hooded merganser, double-crested cormorant, American bittern, green heron, Virginia rail, spotted sandpiper, Wilsonโs snipe, broad-winged hawk and whip-poor-will.
Plus songbirds such as yellow-billed cuckoo, cliff swallow, winter wren, marsh wren, golden-crowned kinglet, Swainsonโs thrush, worm-eating warbler, Nashville warbler, mourning warbler, Canada warbler, orchard oriole, evening grosbeak and purple finch.
