One section of the Silvio O. Conte National Wildlife Refuge is on Moody Bridge Road in Hadley, between Bay Road and Route 9. A one-mile well-maintained, wheelchair-accessible trail passes through hardwood forest, floodplain forest and grasslands and past streams and ponds.
In late May, at one of the many benches and overlooks along the trail, I photographed this phoebe which perched in a nearby tree.
Captured with a monopod mounted DSLR camera and a long telephoto lens.
