Northampton will begin the American Legion playoffs in a familiar position: the top.
Post 28 has won 12 games in a row and sits at 14-1 with the No. 1 seed after winning the regular season championship.
Northampton will host No. 16 Agawam at noon at Arcanum Field in Game 1 of a best-of-three series.
Game 2 is Sunday at 1 p.m. at Shea Field in Agawam.
The third game, if necessary, will be played Monday in Northampton.
South Hadley earned the No. 9 seed and visits No. 8 Greenfield at 7 p.m. Saturday before hosting at Landers Field at noon Sunday.
No. 12 Easthampton drew No. 5 Westfield at 1 p.m. Saturday and will have its home game at 3 p.m. Sunday at Daley Field in Nonotuck Park.
Belchertown is seeded 14th and plays at No. 3 Longmeadow at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Sunday’s Game 2 is at 5 p.m. at Parsons Field.
Amherst 11, Frontier 7 — Brett Evans pitched seven innings and struck out four in a home win for Amherst.
Evans gave up only two earned runs.
Luke Leonard went 2 for 4 while Levi Constant and Quentin Moliterno all added RBI singles. Evan Hu knocked in two runs in the sixth with a single for Amherst.
For Frontier, Matt Hildreth had a single and a double with a run scored. Steven Worthley also singled and scored a run.
Easthampton 15, Westfield National 1 (4 innings) — Winter Roske had three hits and four RBIs in a 9-10 semifinal win for Easthampton.
Hudson Fulcher-Melendy and Colin Larson (three RBIs) both added three hits for the Eagles. Larson tripled for Easthampton.
Gabe Growhoski got in on the action with two hits and three RBIs.
Luke Haynes went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI’s. Evan O’Malley also had a double scoring two for the Eagles.
Fulcher-Melendy picked up the win on the mound.
