Season highlights: Wall’s 5.67 goals against average was second best in Division 2. He compiled 176 saves during his senior season where the Blue Devils won the Valley League championship. Wall made a late save to preserve a 7-6 win over South Hadley on April 26. He also shut out Amherst Regional 9-0, making 10 saves against the Hurricanes at Garber Field under the lights. In Hamp’s first round loss in the West/Central Division 2 tournament, Wall made 14 saves in a 5-3 loss to Algonquin.
Wall on winning the Valley League: “In past seasons we have come close. But we had a lot of talented players who care about the sport. We meshed together really well.”
Wall on his favorite moment: “It was the shutout against Amherst. It was one of the times that we really came together. We really excelled at what we were doing. You couldn’t see that in every game.”
Wall on future plans: “I am attending Skidmore College without plans to play sports. But I’ve been in contact with the lacrosse coach, and we’ll see how things go.”
Wall on being the last line of defense: “It’s stressful. There are so many things that go into being a goalie. Being able to separate how you play and the team. We had games that were blowouts. I could play well in a blowout. You have to be good at acknowledging roles and controlling what you can control.”
Northampton coach Matt Striebel on Wall: “Bryce was the MVP of our team. The most important piece. We had the lowest goals against average other than Chaug.”
