DEERFIELD — A man in his 70s told police he fell asleep before his car hit a parked highway truck on Routes 5 and 10.
According to State Police at the Shelburne barracks, the accident occurred at 9:45 a.m. Thursday near the Elm Street intersection. At the time of the accident, highway workers were setting up to paint lane lines on Routes 5 and 10, and the truck contained orange safety cones. Damage to the truck was estimated roughly at $1,000.
The driver, who was not identified, was not injured, although the airbag in his car was deployed.
