A stump burning in the West Cemetery at 6:53 p.m. Monday was extinguished by firefighters. Police are trying to determine whether someone intentionally set the fire.
Daniel C. Lopez, 35, of Springfield, was arrested about 6 p.m. Sunday on a charge of shoplifting when police responded to Wal-Mart, 180 N. King St., after staff reported they observed Lopez take items from shelves without paying and attempt to return them in exchange for store credit. He exchanged roughly $40 worth of merchandise before he was stopped by police at the store. There was also a warrant for his arrest issued by Springfield District Court for breaking and entering in the night, police said.
Cody Allan Dupont, 23, of 21 Princeton Ave., Apt. 2, was arrested on a warrant on Princeton Avenue at 8:38 p.m. Monday.
Vladimir V. Mironov, 26, of Moriches, New York, was arrested at 1:05 p.m. Sunday after a traffic stop on Parsons Street on a charge of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended or revoked license.
A 55-year-old East Street resident was summoned to court at 3:10 p.m. Thursday on a charge of failing to register as a sex offender.
