GRANBY – Firefighters from South Hadley and Granby  responded to a fire that caused minor damage to a home at 519 Amherst Road on Thursday morning.

South Hadley District 2 Fire Chief Todd Calkins said the homeowner reported smoke in the walls of the house about 9 a.m. and that a preliminary investigation determined that the fire was electrical in nature.

“It was contained to a very small portion of the front part of the house beneath the floor,” Calkins said. “It was kind of hard to get to. Minor damage to the house. We took care of it pretty quickly.”

Calkins said firefighters cleared the scene in about an hour and that South Hadley District 1 provided mutual aid.
