Tara Ganguly’s Sept. 3 guest column – “My world, my voice. My story” – is a powerful reminder that we reap what we sow.
Personal experience, passion and anger can be powerful motivators.
When the impulse to angrily express them is one’s top priority, there is invariably backlash.
When the desire to create positive change becomes one’s top priority, thoughtful articulation can change hearts and minds. To be effective, human rights commissions require members who have a consistent track record of the latter.
The ensuing controversy is also a reminder that objections to the current meaning of “PC” (i.e. politically correct or popular) are best received when we don’t forsake the original definition: polite and courteous.
