Uneven greens made putting difficult in the Amherst Regional golf team’s 180-185 win over Northampton on Thursday at Northampton Country Club.
Evan Rutherford shot a 42 for the Hurricanes to claim the individual medal.
“All the scores are a little high today,” said Jim Casagrande, Northampton’s coach and the club’s pro. “The greens were aerated, so everybody’s having trouble putting. That adds a few shots.”
Caitlyn Richmond and Trace Whalen both shot 43s for the Blue Devils (0-4). Brad Moreau had a 48 and Aidan Chapdelaine a 51.
Eli Kayser-Hirsh shot a 45, Dan Miller-Grossman a 46 and Anna Casagrande a 47 for Amherst (3-2).
“We weren’t as good as we’ve normally been playing,” Amherst coach Todd Croamcks said. “I have a very young squad. I’m thrilled for them to get out and play another course, get acclimated and exposed to competition.”
