Not quite the Beatles. That’s what Mike Morin of Holyoke titled his email when he sent this picture he took during his morning commute through his city’s downtown last week.
The geese, whose stroll across the street is a comical reminder of the iconic album cover photo of the Beatles’ walk across Abbey Road, made an unusual appearance around 8:30 a.m. Sept. 7.
“They came up the hill from where Interstate 391 meets High Street, a very busy, multi-lane, multi-intersection corridor,” Morin wrote. “What is not shown is that there are many more out of frame to the right that continued to flood into the road. Motorists were unsure as to how to handle the situation because the geese just didn’t move. As I slowly inched my car forward, thinking that they would move out of the way, they just continued to surrounded my car. I eventually eased my car through, not before taking a few photos of the surreal situation.
“ It was a nice disruption to the normal work commute when one’s head is usually full of all the day’s check lists and upcoming meetings,” Morin went on. “I like to believe the geese were mocking us and reminding us no matter how sophisticated we think we are, things can easily come to a grinding halt thanks to a few dozen geese.”
