The Northampton field hockey team rallied from a two-goal halftime deficit to tie the game, but Frontier Regional scored a pair late to earn the 4-2 win and qualify for the postseason in Northampton.

Abby Baldwin scored both Hamp goals to tie the game. Her first goal was assisted by Hazel Either.

Mackenzie Patterson broke the tie with an unassisted goal with 11:43 left for Frontier (9-1). Kathryn Mason netted the final goal with 10 seconds left with an assist from Olivia Vecellio.

Ashley Borkowski scored two first-half goals with assists from Vecellio and Patterson.

Skyla Burniske made two saves in the win.

Danielle Parent stopped seven for Hamp (4-2-2), which received strong play from its junior class.

South Hadley 7, Palmer 1 — Kayla Carlton scored twice, while Sarah Lacey, Kate O’Neil (assist), Olivia Wilson, Sarah Shea and Isabella Patruno each had one goal as the Tigers (5-2-1) rolled at home.

Taylor Gelinas had one assist, while Brittany Cote (one save) and Brooke Blaire (none) split halves in goal. For Blaire, it was her first career game.

Girls volleyball

Amherst Regional 3, Longmeadow 0 — Claire Basler-Chang had 17 digs, while Meg Rice added 10 as the Hurricanes (9-0) continued their strong play with the 25-21, 25-17, 25-17 sweep of the Lancers at home.

Periya Yath and Teya Nolan (30 assists) each had three aces and five digs.

Minnechaug 3, Belchertown 0 — Jenna Blain had six kills and four assists, while Cara McKenzie added four kills and two digs but the Orioles (7-2) fell 25-19, 25-21, 25-16 on the road.

South Hadley 3, Sci-Tech 0 — The Tigers (7-2, 3-0 Southern) inched closer to the postseason with the 25-15, 26-24, 25-10 win at home.

Morgan Adams (three digs, ace) had nine assists, Kaylyn Labrecque (four aces) finished with five digs and Kiana Turner (two aces) powered 11 kills for the Tigers.

Westborough 3, Frontier Regional 0 — Lauren Davenport had four kills and seven digs, and Ella Deane added 10 assists but the Red Hawks (4-6) fell 25-23, 25-11, 25-22 on the road.

Bri Thurber and Sarah Zoly each had eight digs in defeat.

Westborough sophomore Gabrielle Bailey, a Penn State commit, had 18 kills and four blocks.

Smith Vocational 3, St. Joe’s 1 — After dropping their first seven games, the Vikings won their fourth straight, 25-13, 25-21, 20-25, 26-24.

Desyaneria Padilla-Garcia led Smith (4-7) with nine blocks, three digs, two aces, two assist and five kills, while Avalon Darby added two blocks, four digs, four aces, two assists and a kill.

Girls soccer

Mahar 4, Easthampton 2 — Andie Hall and Angela Nardi gave the Eagles (4-5-0) a 2-0 lead, but the Senators rallied for the win in Orange.

Maddie Grabowski and Kasi Marowitz each had one assist, while Lily Pioli had 13 saves.

Smith Vocational 3, Franklin Tech 0 — Marissa Meyhew (assist) scored twice, while Gabby Petlock (assist) had one tally as the Vikings (8-1) won on the road.

Shannon Ryan had one assist and Maddisin Atkinson made three saves in the shutout.

Amherst Regional 1, Sabis 0 — Emma Robson scored, while Reilly Lepak (two saves) and Amalia Butler (one save) shared time in net for the Hurricanes (5-1-2).

Frontier Regional 7, Greenfield 0 — Natalie Denkiewicz scored two goals, while Kara Felton (assist), Angela Self, Julia Riordan, Riley Sampson and Jenna Martin each had one for the Red Hawks (4-4).

Lilly Haley and Katie Thompson each had two assists, while Jaime Byrne had one. Alexa Boyden made one save in the shutout.

Hampshire Regional 3, Holyoke 2 — Trailing 1-0, the Raiders scored three straight goals to earn their fourth straight win.

Lindsay Abel, Megan Hufnagel and Sam Tersavich each had a goal for Hampshire (5-2-1), while Carly Stenson, Vissi Rizos and Sophie Aldrich each had an assist in front of Melissa Gagnon (six saves).

Gateway 7, Hampden Charter 0 — Samantha Belardo and Jess Van Heynigen (two assists) each had two goals as the Gators romped at home.

Hannah Coffey, Kendyl Wing and Juliana Dickinson added a goal apiece for Gateway (6-2-1) while Becca Hyjek and Erin Harris each recorded an assist in front of Becca Herman (one save).

Smith Academy 5, Ware 0 — Carrie Ellis had four goals as the Falcons rolled on the road.

Madeline Niedbala had the other goal for Smith (2-5-1, 1-2-0 Pioneer), while Hannah Rickert and Maggie Hession each had an assist in front of Gabby Tisdale (eight saves).

Smith Academy 2, Holyoke 1 — The Falcons (2-4-1) scored off two set pieces to earn the win in Hatfield.

Connor Jubb scored off a free kick from just inside midfield. His shot was intended for a teammate, but missed and found the net instead.

Liam Pitrat scored off a corner kick in similar fashion.

Jack Hession made eight saves, including several key stops, to preserve the win.

Northampton 2, Chicopee Comp 0 — Nick Heafey scored one goal and set up the other for the Blue Devils.

Junior Yunga had the other goal for Hamp (3-5-2, 1-0-1 Moriarty), while J.D. Pruett had an assist.

Freshman Noah Hopkins stopped five shots for the Blue Devils.
