Quarterback Ian Ostberg had a monster day and Matt Channel scored the winning touchdown as the Williston Northampton football team beat Taft, 42-41 in overtime, Saturday for its first Erickson League win.

Ostberg, of Florence, threw for 418 yards and four touchdowns, while Channel, of Hatfield, rushed for 81 yards in addition to the winning score.

Receiver Austin Ryan had 16 catches for 318 yards and three touchdowns.

Nate Balthazard recovered one fumble, forced one fumble, had an interception and six solo tackles to pace the defense.

Bert Aulean had four solo and seven assisted tackles for Williston (1-1).

Girls soccer

Williston 1, Wilbraham & Monson 1 โ€” Campbell Nyarady scored from Mika Sovjani (Conway) as the Wildcats earned the draw on Saturday.

Field hockey

Williston 4, Millbrook 0 โ€” Gabby Jones (assist) scored twice, while Tori Palumbo and Aidan Bourbonnais scored once as the Wildcats won at home.

Julia Maclean, Maura Holden and Anna Harvey each had one assist, and Gabby Dicomitis made four saves.

Girls volleyball

Williston 3, Stoneleigh Burnham 0 โ€” Jersey Strum had eight aces, Danielle Marquez added six, while Chelsea Clark and Sarah Marion (Granby) combined for 12 kills as the Wildcats (2-2) won in Easthampton Saturday.

Boys cross country

Westminster Invitational โ€” Nick Hill (Northampton) set a meet record in 17 minutes, 27 seconds as the Wildcats won the championship with 42 points Saturday.

Tyler Greenwood (Easthampton) was seventh overall for Williston.

Boys water polo

Hotchkiss School 8, Williston 6; Philips Andover 13, Williston 5 โ€” Goalie Noah DeVos made 14 saves in each game, while David Janoshek finished with eight goals, including six against Andover, for the Wildcats Saturday.
