Amherst College’s Mohamed Hussein took fifth in the men’s 8-kilometer run in 24 minutes, 45.96 seconds at the New England Championships on Saturday in Boston, leading his team to a seventh-place finish Saturday. UMass was ninth led by Morgan Marlow in 15th at 25:12.88.
New England Championships — Mary Lavery took 21st in the 5-kilometer race in 18:26.2 to lead the Minutewomen to a ninth-place finish Saturday. Mount Holyoke was 35th, and Mia Barnes ran 21:04.02 to finish 198th.
James Early Invitational — Katie Stevens finished the 5K course in 22:39.10 to take 11th and help the Pioneers to a fifth-place finish Saturday. Monica Nimmagadda topped the Amherst College roster in 88th at 24:33.73.
George Washington 2, UMass 0 — Cassidy Babin made two saves, while Megan Burke put three shots on goal for the Minutewomen (2-8-1, 0-4 A10) in a home loss Sunday.
Emerson 1, Smith 0 (OT) — Camryn Biasin made six saves, but a goal nearly 10 minutes into overtime sunk the Pioneers (7-2-4, 1-2-2 NEWMAC) on Saturday.
Mount Holyoke 3, Wellesley 2 — Mckenna Lamb scored a home winner in the 76th minute Saturday assisted by Sara Sanau Ruiz.
Sanau Ruiz also scored the Lyons’ second goal and assisted their first.
Suz Rose scored the opening goal and assisted Sanau Ruiz for Mount Holyoke (7-5, 2-3 NEWMAC).
Amherst 3, Endicott 1; Springfield 3, Amherst 1 — Maggie Danner totaled 27 kills in a Saturday split at Springfield College.
Amherst beat Endicott 25-19, 23-25, 25-22, 25-21 and lost to Springfield 21-25, 25-21, 25-18, 25-11.
Nicole Gould also had 12 kills in each game for Amherst (10-5).
Hamilton 4, Amherst 3 — Mary Margaret Stoll tied the game with her second goal in the 70th minute, but an overtime winner five minutes later sunk Amherst on Saturday.
Caroline Fiore also scored for Amherst (8-3, 4-3 NESCAC), while Kendall Codey and Margaret Revera added assists. Julia Booth made seven saves.
Babson 4, Smith 0 — The Pioneers only managed one shot on goal in a home loss Saturday.
Cameo Tietje made 13 saves for Smith (7-6, 3-2 NEWMAC).
Mount Holyoke 2, Springfield 1 — Kathryn Rawson scored a winner in the 68th minute at home Saturday and added an assist.
Charlotte Wagner scored the Lyons’ first goal three minutes into the game, while Mirjam Keochakian also had an assist and Liz DiCesare made nine saves for Mount Holyoke (6-4, 3-1 NEWMAC).
Richmond 4, UMass 2 — Grace Hortan and Anne Dijkstra found the net in a road loss Sunday.
Sarah Hawkshaw added an assist, while Emily Hazard had five saves for UMass (7-6, 3-1 A10).
Amherst College — Nicholas Kumamoto shot a +14 156 over two days at the Manhattanville Fall Classic to tie for sixth over the weekend.
Amherst finished fourth as a team.
NESCAC Championships — Amherst placed third as a team with combined score of 648. Emily Young, Morgan Yurosek and Jessica Jeong each shot a 163 to pace Amherst.
