Is there anyone who thinks Baylor is going to win the NCAA Championship? I bet if the brackets came out right now, most people wouldn’t even predict the Bears to make the Final Four. But they’re a undefeated with a legitimate resume.

1.   Baylor

2.  UCLA – After their narrow loss at Oregon, the Bruins have gone right back to dominating entertainingly.

3.  Villanova – The Wildcats lost to Butler to fall out of No. 1. Nobody was going go undefeated with the schedule they have especially in the stretch they’re currently in (at Creighton, at Butler, vs. Marquette, vs. Xavier). But Villanova certainly looks poised to make a run at a repeat.

4.  Kansas  – After narrowly escaped Kansas State with a little help from the officials, the Jayhawks looks like they might be a little vulnerable. 

5.  Kentucky – It’s not inconceivable that the Wildcats could win out.

6.  Gonzaga – If Gonzaga sweeps St. Mary’s beginning Saturday in Spokane, the Zags could go into the postseason undefeated, but how high should they really be in the poll? They beat Florida and Arizona. Are those combine with St. Mary’s enough to push them much past sixth in the poll?

7.  Oregon – Since the Ducks got healthy, they’d looked good enough to make a deep run.

10. Florida State – Are the Noles this good or just playing this good?

11.  West Virginia – After losing to Texas Tech, can they beat Baylor Tuesday?

13.  Purdue – Maybe the most sneaky underrated team in America.

15.  North Carolina – When they’re good they’re top 5 good. They haven’t been consistent enough yet.

20. Notre Dame – This is one of Mike Brey’s best coaching jobs.

21.  Louisville – Since beating Kentucky, they haven’t been as good.

22. St. Mary’s – The Gaels badly need to beat Gonzaga to prove themselves.

23.  – Minnesota – When was the last time a father and son coaches were both ranked?

24.  – Cincinnati

25.  – South Carolina – I went to bed expecting to have USC ranked and woke up to find out they’d lost to Cal. So I went for the other USC, which is of course a coincidence. With Thornwell back, the Gamecocks are back on track.
