EASTHAMPTON — A Chicopee man has been sentenced to six months in jail after causing a disturbance at the Brass Cat on Cottage Street and spitting blood in a police car and booking room when he was detained.
William Brbovic, 34, pleaded guilty Tuesday in Northampton District Court to three counts of threat to commit a crime and admitted to sufficient facts on two counts of vandalism with a noxious or filthy substance.
On Oct. 26, Brbovic walked into the Brass Cat and asked for a shot, but the bartender said the man appeared to be intoxicated, according to the Easthampton Police Department.
The bartender refused to serve Brbovic, who got angry and started lashing out, kicking the barstool and pushing glasses around the bar, police said.
Brbovic told the bartender he was going to “burn this entire place down,” according to the police report.
When police arrived to the scene, Brbovic was outside and was identified by the bartender, police said. Brbovic began threatening officers and resisting arrest, police said.
After being detained, Brbovic started banging his head inside the police car which resulted in a cut, police said. He spit blood and saliva in the back of the police car and in the booking room where he was offered first aid before being taken to Cooley Dickinson Hospital, police said.
Police said Brbovic was arrested for a similar incident in 2011 for causing a disturbance at the same bar and subsequently fighting officers.
