Police arrested Jason K. Davis of Springfield after a traffic stop at 1:32 a.m. Sunday. Police said Davis was going 37 mph in a 35 mph zone on Pleasant Street. Police pulled over Davis, arrested and charged him with speeding and operating a motor vehicle on a suspended license, subsequent offense.
Police responded to a call for breaking and entering at a residence at 42 Stoddard St. at 10:14 p.m. on Saturday. No one has been arrested in connection with the crime, police said Sunday.
Police arrested Anthony J. Degregorio, 28, of Charlemont at 6:38 p.m. Saturday after responding to a call at the Spare Time Northampton, 525 Pleasant St. Police said someone informed them people were smoking crack by the building. They arrested Degregorio for an outstanding warrant for failure to pay fines for a past shoplifting offense. Police said they then found a crack pipe with residue in it, so he was also charged with possession of a class B drug.
Eleven mailboxes on Sylvester Road were vandalized around 7:08 a.m. Saturday. Police responded to the area of 545 Sylvester Road after nearly a dozen mailboxes were mowed down. Police believe the mailboxes were struck by a vehicle because several mailbox posts bear tire marks. The incident is under investigation, police said.
Police responded to Platform Sports Bar at 12:37 a.m. Saturday for a reported assault. According to police, an intoxicated male punched another man in the head during an argument. The man left when police arrived. The victim complained of a headache after the incident, but has not pressed charges. There were no arrests.
Northampton Police issued a Level 3 sex offender notice for three individuals Friday evening. The men are not wanted and have registered in compliance with the law, police said. Guy Flathers, 65, of 35 Fruit St., has three counts of aggravated rape from 1984. Robert Martinez, 38, of 104 Hawley St., was charged for indecent assault and battery on a child, rape and abuse and indecent assault and battery in 1994. In 2003, he was charged with aggravated rape, indecent assault and battery on a mentally retarded person and kidnapping. Daniel Rae, 61, of 421 N. Main St. in Leeds, was convicted in 2003 of rape of a child with force, kidnapping of a child under 16, indecent assault and battery on a child age 14 and over and dissemination of matter harmful to minors.
