Weekend high school sports: Amherst hockey holds off Belchertown

Nathan Masteralexis scored two goals and added an assist for the Amherst Regional hockey team in a 4-1 win over Belchertown on Saturday.

Max Hopely and Jake Balderston scored, while Niccolo Cardaropoli, Gio Rivera and Brandon Feldman added assists.

Clayton Bowser made 24 saves for the Hurricanes (11-4-1, 10-2-1 Fay-Wright).

Kyle Greene kept Belchertown (7-6, 7-6 Fay-Wright) in the game with 34 saves.

Adam Mattingly scored for the Orioles.

Easthampton 11, Wahconah 2 — CJ Tenczar netted a hat trick and two assists for the Eagles in a road win Saturday.

Garren Fugiel and Mike McColgan had two goals and two assists each, while Ben Howe chipped in a goal and an assist.

Jake Delisle, Tom O’Connor and Jake Vourden scored, and Ely Boyle and Patrick O’Connor added assists.

Nate Barnes made 21 saves for the Eagles (5-10-1, 3-10-1 Fay-Wright).

Girls basketball

Hampshire Regional 91, Athol 53 — Caroline O’Connor scored 21 points in the Raiders’ home win Saturday.

Hampshire (14-4) hit eight 3s as a team.

Katy O’Connor chipped in 14 points, and Katelyn Pickunka added 11.

Lexi Turgeon scored 10 for the Raiders, who have won six of their last seven games.

South Hadley 57, Monson 37 — Sophie Gatzounas led three Tigers in double figures wit 15 points Saturday.

Mia Kelly added 14, while Abby Edge scored 11.

The Tigers (15-0, 6-0 Central) have won 15 games in a row.
