EASTHAMPTON — Authorities were executing a search warrant Sunday at the home of a man accused of unlawfully planting and possessing explosives.

Bryan O. Desmarais, 41, of 36 Ridgewood Terrace, was arrested Thursday in connection to a Feb. 6 incident when police found detonated and undetonated explosives off Pleasant Street near Lower Mill Pond.

On Sunday evening, Easthampton police and fire crews were present. There was also a truck with state Department of Fire Services Hazardous Materials Unit decals on it. One person in a white hazmat suit could be seen entering and leaving the house over and over. Police Chief Robert Alberti confirmed authorities were executing a search warrant but could not say what they had found, if anything.

“I’m anxious to find out myself,” he said. He said they should have more details on the search Monday.

Alberti said no one was at home when officers arrived.

On Friday, Desmarais pleaded not guilty to charges of throwing, placing or detonating explosives, possession of ammunition without a license, possession of an incendiary device and possession of explosives in Northampton District Court.

He was ordered held without bail Friday pending another hearing.
