Hannah Burnett started it. Callie Santos finished it.

The UMass women’s lacrosse team picked a win 10-9 over UConn in overtime Sunday thanks to two late goals.

Burnett scored with 3 minutes, 39 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 9. She led the team with four goals on four shots.

Santos found the net with 3:17 left in overtime for the winner, her second goal of the day.

Kiley Anderson, Abby Walker, Holly Turner and Hannah Murphy also scored, while Murphy had two assists and Turner, Cassidy Doster, Santos and Kaitlyn Cerasi had one.

UMass (2-3) goalie Lauren Hiller made 10 saves.

Smith 13, Simmons 5 — Sydney Garner scored four goals, and the Pioneers picked up their first win of the season Sunday.

Raleigh Williams, Chloe Harris, Clelie Fielding and Caroline Myran all scored twice, while Julia Hamilton found the net once for Smith (1-1).

Harris and Myran added assists.

Northampton’s Missie Maiewski scored two goals for Simmons, while Belchertown’s Kate Bowers added one goal for the Sharks.

Bridgewater State 15, Mount Holyoke 8 — Kaitlin Braz scored four goals and added four ground balls, but the Lyons lost Sunday.

Julia Rankin scored twice, while Charlotte Wagner and Northampton’s Leila Kouakou also found the net.

Mila Wysocki took the loss for Mount Holyoke (0-2) and made three saves.

Bowdoin 7, Amherst 6 (OT) — Julia Crerend scored twice, but Amherst opened its season with a loss Sunday.

Kelly Karczewski, Kate Wyeth, Hanna Krueger and Claire Cagnassola also found the net, while Mary Grace Cronin had an assist.

Kyra Gardner made six saves for Amherst (0-1).

Men’s hockey

Providence 5, UMass 1 — Ray Pigozzi scored from William Lagesson in the third period, but the Minutemen’s season ended Saturday in the Hockey East Tournament opening round series.

UMass (5-29-2) lost the first game 3-0 at Providence on Friday.

Ryan Wischow made 30 saves Saturday.

UMass ended the season on a 17-game losing streak but only graduate five seniors.

Women’s hockey

Middlebury 4, Amherst 1 — Sarah Culhane scored from Katie Savage in the first period, but Amherst couldn’t hold onto the lead in the NESCAC title game Sunday at Middlebury.

Amherst (14-8-5) reached the championship by beating Connecticut College 2-0 on Saturday behind goals from Jocelyn Hunyadi and Katelyn Pantera.

Sabrina Dobbins picked up the shutout.

Baseball

Elon 3, UMass 0; Elon 5, UMass 1 — Cooper Mrowka had two doubles and an RBI on Saturday for the Minutemen (0-3).

Softball

UMass 13, Samford 0; Central Arkansas 2, UMass 1; Samford 9, UMass 5 — Kaitlyn Savinoha tallied six hits and four RBIs, as the Minutewomen went 1-2 in Starkville, Mississippi, over the weekend.

UMass (3-12) split two games with Samford and lost to Central Arkansas.

Men’s lacrosse

Amherst 17, Bowdoin 12 — Nine goals in the first period pushed Amherst to a victory Sunday.

Brett Kujala had three goals and an assist in the game, while Shawn Daly scored three times and picked up four ground balls.

Matthew Crowell scored twice and added two assists, while Tim Bulens had a goal and an assist for Amherst (1-0).

Alex Osgood and Drew Hillman also found the net, while Jimmy Young dished out an assist.

Peter Mumford led the team with seven ground balls and made 20 saves.

Men’s Track and Field

IC4A Championships — Brian Gendron was third in the 800-meter run in 1:50.90.

Hunter Gray took fourth in the 60-meter dash in 7.24 seconds and fifth in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.55 seconds.

Tufts Last Chance Meet — Kevin Connors of Amherst College finished fourth in the 3,000-meter run in 8:25.76.

Women’s Track and Field

ECAC Championships — UMass’ Emilie Cowan won the 500-meter dash in 1 minute, 12.21 seconds.

Tufts Last Chance Meet — Amherst College’s Kiana Herold won the high jump at 5 feet, 3 inches.

Zoe Rubinstein of Smith College was second in the pole vault at 12-02.5.

Tennis

Dartmouth 7, UMass 0 — Amherst Regional grad Allison McCann teamed with Jacqueline Crawford at the No. 3 doubles position to win 7-6.
