PELHAM — A Democratic Town Committee that had been mostly dormant in recent years is being revived.

The re-establishment of the committee comes as politics is back at the forefront for many people since the 2016 presidential election, said committee chairperson Judith Eiseman.

Eiseman said she hopes more residents, including younger voters, will take an interest. “We would like more folks to join us,” she said.

The committee’s 12 members met last weekend, when Eiseman and Richard Seelig were elected as delegates, and Barbara Cooper as an alternate, to the June 3 Massachusetts Democratic Convention at the Tsongas Arena in Lowell. The convention will determine the new party platform.

Eiseman said Pelham is allowed to have up to 35 members on its committee, meaning there are 23 seats left to fill.

The next gathering will come March 18 at 10 a.m. at Pelham Library. Eiseman said any Pelham resident who is a registered Democrat is welcome to attend. Expected at the meeting is a discussion on the platform and committee bylaws.
