Back-to-back RBI singles gave the UMass baseball team a 5-4 walk-off win over Saint Louis, Saturday at Earl Lorden Field.
Freshman Nolan Kessinger singled up the middle with two outs to drive in Dylan Robinson with the winning run for the Minutemen (8-20, 3-6 Atlantic 10).
In the previous at-bat, Cooper Mrowka brought home Eddy Hart with the tying run.
Mike Geannelis struck out six and allowed three earned runs on seven hits with two walks in the complete-game win.
Amherst 4, Williams 3; Amherst 8, Williams 5 — Max Steinhorn (four hits, three runs), Harry Roberson (four hits, three runs) and Yanni Thanopoulos (four hits, two runs, two RBIs) powered the offense as the Mammoths (10-9, 4-2 NESCAC) swept on the road Saturday.
UMass 12, Fordham 4; Fordham 7, UMass 4 — Jena Cozza was 4-for-5 with a home run, while Kaycee Carbone was 4-for-6 as the Minutewomen (19-18, 8-3 Atlantic 10) split at home Saturday.
Smith 6, Emerson 1; Smith 16, Emerson 5 — Emma Kraus (two runs, RBI) and Brittney Blokker (two RBIs) each had two hits in Game 1, while Ally Snyder (two hits, four RBIs, three runs) and Lydia DeAngelo (three hits, four RBIs, run) each homered in Game 2 for the visiting Pioneers (8-19, 5-9 NEWMAC) Saturday.
Amherst 1, Wesleyan 0; Amherst 10, Wesleyan 1 (5) — Sammy Salustri had an RBI double and Jackie Buechler pitched a one-hitter with five strikeouts in Game 1 for the Mammoths. Salustri was 3-for-3 with two RBIs, and Lorena Ukanwa fanned 11 in a shortened Game 2 for Amherst (22-6, 9-0 NESCAC).
UMass 12, Fairfield 8 — Jeff Trainor had two goals and three assists, while Tyler Bogart had three goals as the Minutemen (5-6, 2-1 CAA) won at Garber Field Saturday.
D.J. Smith had 13 saves in the win.
Amherst 21, Tufts 15 — Chris Albanese had six goals and Colin Minicus had eight assists as the 13th-ranked Mammoths (10-3, 6-2 NESCAC) upset the No. 2 Jumbos (11-1, 6-1) at home Saturday.
Amherst outscored Tufts 13-3 in the second half.
UMass 19, St. Bonaventure 5 — Kiley Anderson had five goals, while Holly Turner and Cassidy Doster each had two goals and three assists as the Minutewomen (11-3, 6-0 Atlantic 10) won their 51st straight conference game with the road win Saturday.
Abby Walker and Hannah Murphy each had three goals.
Babson 17, Smith 4 — Chloe Harris scored twice, while Gigi MacDonald and Caroline Myran each had one, but the Pioneers (8-6, 0-5 NEWMAC) fell on the road Saturday.
Tufts 11, Amherst 7 — Hannah Fox (assist) and Kate Wyeth each had two goals, but the Mammoths (5-7, 2-6 NESCAC) fell on the road Saturday.
Westfield State 16, Mass Maritime 3 — Hunter Zacharicz (Southampton) scored four goals as the Owls (8-4, 3-0 MASCAC) rolled at home Saturday.
Saint Joseph’s 13, Simmons 10 — Missie Maiewski (Northampton) had a goal and four ground balls, but the Sharks (5-8, 2-3 GNAC) fell at home.
Amherst 8, Swarthmore 1 — The Mammoths (16-3) swept doubles in straight sets, then did the same in singles play with the exception of a three-set loss at No. 4 singles, at home Saturday.
Williams 8, Amherst 1 — Camille Smukler and Kelsey Chen won at first doubles, but the Mammoths (5-5, 3-1 NESCAC) fell on the road Saturday.
Mount Holyoke 8, Endicott 1 — Ayame Yazawa and Ching-Ching Huang won at first doubles, then they took first and second singles, respectively, as the Lyons (14-8) won on the road Saturday.
Jack Leaman Invitational — Amherst placed third behind New York University and Williams, Sunday at Hickory Ridge Golf Club.
Morgan Yurosek was fourth (79-73–152) for Amherst.
Allison Shilling tied for 11th (80-79–159) for fifth-place Mount Holyoke.
