Two singles wins and a victory at No. 1 doubles helped the Amherst Regional boys tennis team beat Northampton, 3-2, Tuesday at home.
Pat O’Connell and Austin Xiong won their singles matches for Amherst (1-0).
O’Connell beat Northampton’s Jake Duggan 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, and Austin Xiong defeated Galen Winsor 6-3, 6-4.
Amherst’s Ethan Yu and Andy Ni beat Asa Geller and Matt Strzynski 6-0, 4-6, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles.
Northampton (2-1) won at No. 1 singles and No. 2 double.
Aidan O’Brien defeated Nathan Ji 3-6, 6-3, 2-1 (10-4) in a tiebreaker after the match had been decided. Emile Bensedrine and Pierre Venne defeated Joey Green and Ethan Xu 6-2, 6-4.
