Nik Smith will find out Saturday if he is the fastest high school sprinter in the state.

The Northampton senior is the second seed in the 100-meter dash and the top seed in the 200 at the All-State championships, Saturday at Bridgewater State.

Field events start at 3 p.m. followed by running events at 4:30.

Smith holds a 21.51-second mark in the 200. Smith Charles of Milton is No. 2 at 22.03, followed closely by Needham’s Davonte Burnett (22.06) and Fitchburg’s Angel Figueroa (22.09).

In the 100, it’s Burnett with the top seed at 10.70 seconds. Oakmont’s John Caouette is third at 10.95.

Smith, who will sprint for Boston University, is the defending 200 champ. He was fourth in the 100 last season. Charles is the defending 100 champ.

Northampton’s 4×400 relay of Patrick Quinlan, Cole Lavalle, Ben Goron-Sniffen and Smith have the top seed at 3:22.40. Somerville is second at 3:23.55. Amherst Regional is ninth in the event at 3:27.46.

Amherst senior Meikkel Murray has the second-best mark in the triple jump at 45 feet, 1½ inches. Somerville’s LeDondy Francois is No. 1 (45-7½). Michael Mecha of Boston College has the same mark of Murray.

Amherst junior Zachary Ellis is ninth in the javelin at 166-9, but within two feet of the fifth seed.

Gordon-Sniffen is seeded 11th in the 800 (1:56.75), but within two seconds of the fifth seed. Lavalle is 11th in the 400 hurdles (56.56), but 1.02 seconds from the fourth seed.

Amherst’s Sophia Jacobs-Townsley is fourth in the girls 2-mile.

Baseball

Lenox 6, Smith Vocational 0 — Matt Hewes, Dana Kellogg and William Mollison all had two hits for the No. 12 Vikings a loss in the Western Massachusetts Division 4 Tournament first round.

Hewes hit a double, as did Randy Orr. Sean Gross also had a hit for Smith Voke (10-11).

It was the final game for Smith Vocational seniors Sean Gross, Jordan Andres, Mason Lewis, Hunter Brooks, Hewes, Matt York, Drew Brida and Jack O’Connell.

The fifth-seeded Millionaires (12-9) advanced to play at No. 4 Granby (16-4) at 4 p.m. Monday.
