Thank you for Clare Morenon’s enlightening column (“Consumers’ relationship with dairy farms,” June 29).
I can’t say that I now understand how the price our local dairy farmers receive for their milk is determined by “how demand for a range of dairy commodities interacts with international supply, and is set by bidding at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and some federal price support programs.”
But what I do understand is that if I want to keep dairy farms in Massachusetts, I’ve got to eat more local ice cream. Happy to oblige.
