SOUTHAMPTON — A break-in and attempted break-in on Wednesday have police on the lookout.
Between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Wednesday, someone broke into the ground-level window of a home on Cold Spring Road, according to Southampton Police. No one was home at the time of the incident and Police Chief Michael Goyette said in a message that jewelry and an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen.
Around noon on Wednesday, there was an attempted break-in at home on Pomeroy Meadow Road. The homeowner witnessed a person jumping over a small fence in front of the home, knocking on the front door and ringing the doorbell before walking to the back of the home and attempting to get in through the garage, Goyette said.
The homeowner yelled out and the suspect ran away, Goyette said. Police said the suspect is in his late teens to early 20s, has a scruffy beard, and was wearing a camouflage shirt, blue jeans and baseball hat.
Both incidents are under investigation and police do not know if the two incidents are related.
