Diamonds in Memory
Adams Road, Williamsburg
Photograph and text by Georgette deFriesse, South Hadley
Twice a year, I walk the loop at Graves Farm in Williamsburg in memory of a very dear friend who passed away several years ago. I walk on the anniversary of his passing and on his birthday. I walk no matter the weather. My recent walk was on June 18, a very wet morning, drizzly and humid. I brought my camera, doubting I’d use it in such gloomy conditions. When I arrived at Graves Farm, wow, I was glad I had the camera! There were no birds or butterflies, but the grasses and flowers were covered with rain drops; the humidity kept the drops from evaporating. It looked like a field of diamonds from a fairy tale. It made a perfect morning to walk and remember my friend.
