One of my favorite places to go and just hang out doing nothing is the beaver pond at the back of my property. It isn’t particularly scenic and the extensive marshy edges make access difficult. With no spectacular views, I find myself looking closely at whatever is near where I’m standing (did I mention, there’s nowhere to sit that’s not soaking wet?) and finding the beauty in the plain. This is a closeup of some ground level plants at the side of the pond: a Canada mayflower, a star flower and the leaves of wild strawberry. I had to lie down to take this photo, taking advantage of the shape of the ground to steady the camera. Yes, I was wet when I stood up.

I used a DSLR with a medium zoom lens.
