I’d like to invite neighbors who enjoy creative music and community-based solutions to consider becoming a part of Pioneer Valley Jazz Shares.
We begin our sixth season of presenting concerts on Sept. 14 with a performance by the Tom Rainey Trio, at June Millington and Ann Hackler’s wonderful venue in Goshen, the Institute for the Musical Arts.
Jazz Shares is a nonprofit, all-volunteer, shareholder-based organization modeled after Community Supported Agriculture or farm share, where folks pay farmers up front, then share in the bounty and risk during the growing season.
Our members purchase jazz shares, enabling us to produce 10 concerts annually in Franklin, Hampshire and Hampden counties. The 100 shares we sell, along with generous support from area businesses, allow us to bring some of the most accomplished improvisers in the world to western Massachusetts.
