EASTHAMPTON — Police in both Easthampton and Hadley responded to a rash of car break-ins over Labor Day weekend where items were stolen from unlocked vehicles.

In Easthampton, about $750 was stolen from one vehicle and a winning scratch lottery ticket valued at $20 was taken from another vehicle. Other cars had loose change stolen from them, Officer Chad Alexander said. All the vehicles had been left unlocked, he said.

In all, Easthampton police received eight reports of car break-ins off Willow Circle, Sandra Road and Golden Drive on Saturday and Sunday morning, Alexander said.

“They’re all tied to the same case,” Alexander said of the Easthampton break-ins.

In Hadley, police say they responded to 10 car break-ins that occurred overnight Monday in the Woodlawn Road neighborhood.

All of the cars had been left unlocked, police said. Some cars were parked in the home’s garage, but the garage door had been left open, Officer Jose Cabrera said. Cabrera said many reported loose change missing.

“All residents are asked to keep valuables out of sight and lock their vehicles,” Sgt. Mitch Kuc wrote on Hadley Police Department’s Facebook page.

All of the incidents are still under investigation. Anyone with surveillance video that may have captured relevant images is asked to contact their local police department.
