Teya Nolan dished out 30 assists with three kills, and the Amherst Regional girls volleyball team beat Westfield 3-0 (25-12, 25-21, 25-18) to open the season, Wednesday in Amherst.

Claire Basler-Chang added 12 kills with five digs for the defending Western Massachusetts Division 2 champions.

Evelyn Foster had five kills and two aces, while Amanda Crow-Chandle added four digs for Amherst (1-0).

Frontier Regional 3, Chicopee Comp 0 — A balanced attack led the defending Western Massachusetts Division 3 champion Red Hawks to a 25-18, 25-10, 26-24 victory.

Lauren Davenport led the team with six kills and had three assists. Olivia Deane contributed five kills, while Selayna Bathurst had four kills and four assists.

Abbe Roberts pulled up seven digs.

Sarah Zoly added six assists and three digs, while Brianna Thurber had three assists and three digs for the Red Hawks.

Belchertown 3, Mohawk 1 — Julianna Tronsky and Eliza Smith each had three aces, while Marissa Courchesne had eight kills in the Orioles’ 20-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-17 win Tuesday.

Field hockey

Northampton 1, Southwick 0 — Hazel Ethier scored midway through the second half with an assist from Anna Kerwood as the Blue Devils won their opener on the road.

Northampton controlled the game throughout. It had 14 corners to the Rams’ one.

Dani Parent made one save, while the defense of Olivia Lombardi, Katie Leinert, Lily Lieberman-Bachman and Taylor Mahoney played well in the shutout.

Clare Stratton made 15 for Southwick.

Boys soccer

Longmeadow 3, Amherst 0 — Lucas Morales-Fernandez made 10 saves for the Hurricanes in a season-opening loss.

Tate Rietkirk played well up front. The Hurricanes (0-1, 0-1 Smith) had scoring chances but struggled to finish.

Amherst Regional golfer Anna Casagrande beat Chicopee’s Brett Beem 4-0 on Tuesday. The score was incorrectly reported in Wednesday’s Gazette.
