EASTHAMPTON — City Council candidates will meet for a forum at 6 p.m. Thursday at Easthampton High School — but with one less candidate.

Assistant City Clerk MaryAnn Giza said James W. Mathews, 32, has dropped out of the City Council at-large race.

Three incumbents and four newcomers are vying for one of the four seats as a City Council at-large member. A “speak easy” event will follow at 8:30 p.m. at the Glendale Grill.

Giza said the ballots for the Nov. 7 election have been finalized. Nicole LaChapelle is first on the ballot in the mayor’s race, followed by Joy Winnie.

The last day to register to vote is Wednesday, Oct. 18. Giza said the city offices will be open until 8 p.m. that day, but residents can also register online. The online voter registration form can be found on the city’s website at easthampton.org.

Mayoral candidate events

Winnie will hold a fundraiser from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Glendale Grill, 65 Glendale St. Two major endorsements will be announced.

LaChapelle will host a “Rock the Vote” event from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Brass Cat, 65 Cottage St. There will be a performance by musician Matt Hebert.
