Genesis Rivera scored 22 points for the UMass women’s basketball team in a 82-70 road loss to North Dakota State on Friday night.
Rivera shot 10-for-14 for the Minutewomen (1-2). Bre Bey-Hamilton added 20 points for UMass.
Maggie Mulligan had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Hailey Leidel scored 13 points, going 3-for-9 from the 3-point line.
Amherst 2, Hamilton 2 — The Mammoths took a one-goal lead into third period but had to settle for a tie to open the season at home.
Amherst had two power play goals by Nick Bondra and Thomas Lindstrom.
Phil Johansson assisted on Bondra’s goal.
Connor Girard made 20 saves for the Mammoths (0-1).
Connecticut College 3, Amherst 2 — Miriam Eickhoff and Katelyn Pantera scored for the Mammoths in a road loss.
Alex Toupal assisted on both goals for Amherst (0-1).
Sabrina Dobbins made 26 saves.
