NORTHAMPTON – A man who was working with an unidentified local logging company had his leg trapped between two logs Saturday morning and was rescued and transported to Baystate Medical Center.

An ambulance and fire engine responded to the medical emergency on North Farms Road around 11:50 a.m. According to Northampton Fire and Rescue Deputy Chief John Garriepy, emergency responders called for the rescue truck after finding the man’s right leg pinned between two very large logs.

Responders inflated an airbag between the two logs to free the man who was then transported to Baystate with an unknown leg injury, according to Garriepy.

“They got him out very quickly,” Garriepy said.

He said that the man seemed to be in a lot of pain, but that he stayed aware throughout the rescue.
