AMHERST — A student of the University of Massachusetts Amherst has died, UMass officials told students in an email Friday.
The Daily Collegian, UMass’ student newspaper, first reported that Gabrielle Bryan, a junior psychology major from Bronx, New York, had died.
“On behalf of UMass, we extend our deepest condolences to Gabrielle’s family and friends who are mourning her untimely death,” wrote Cara Appel-Silbaugh, UMass Dean of Students, in the email.
The message also urged students who may be grieving to consult the university’s student loss and remembrance website, and listed several on-campus counseling services.
The email did not include any information regarding a cause or location of death, and no further details were immediately available.
