NORTHAMPTON — The three Democratic candidates for governor — Jay Gonzalez, Bob Massie and Setti Warren — will be in the city answering questions posed by local nonprofit organizations and community members later this month.
The 2018 Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate Forum will be held from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28, in the Northampton High School’s auditorium, 380 Elm St.
The Democratic committees of Amherst, Easthampton, Holyoke, Northampton, South Hadley and Southampton teamed up with the high school to host the event. Northampton Community Television will film the forum.
The candidates will be questioned by Stan Moulton, opinion editor of the Daily Hampshire Gazette; Natalia Munoz, radio host of Vaya con Munoz; Kari Njiri, New England Public Radio host and reporter; and Jennifer Taub, a law professor at Vermont Law School. Clare Higgins, executive director of Community Action Pioneer Valley and former Northampton mayor, will moderate.
A variety of nonprofit organizations, including Highland Valley Elder Services and the survival centers in Northampton and Amherst, were invited to submit questions, Elizabeth Silver, Northampton Democratic City Committee chairwoman, said. Silver added that the mix of agencies will provide a widespread, community-based set of questions.
Members of the public may submit questions by emailing Silver at easilver123@gmail.com using the subject line “Forum Question.”
The Massachusetts State Primary is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 4.
