I write in memory of my father, Charlie Sobasko Jr., and my two grandfathers. Both of my grandfathers served in the U.S. Navy and my father served in the U.S. Army.
My father, a past commander of American Legion Post 271 in Hadley, would have wanted me to speak up for him. My father held three different jobs at that time. He was a good father to my sister and me, a good husband to my mother and he was my best friend.
The American Legion meant a great deal to my father. He loved life, he cared for people and if he was still alive he would be in the forefront, trying his best to protect the home of our veterans (“Legion sues in bid to block senior center,” April 12).
My father passed away several years ago, and I miss him dearly. In his memory, please don’t let the senior center project put our veterans out of business and force them out of their home.
