The Family Advocacy Center at Baystate Children’s Hospital in Springfield will hold its annual Homicide Victims Remembrance, “Standing Together – Never Forgotten,”Thursday.
The event, originally scheduled for April 26, had to be postponed and rescheduled. It is free and open to the public.
People will begin gathering on the lawn of the Springfield Museums, 21 Edward St., at 5:30 p.m., The program starts at 6 p.m. and will include a reading of the names of loved ones who have lost their lives to homicide and vehicular homicide.
Those who wish to have the name of their deceased loved ones read should arrive at 5:30 p.m. to provide officials with the names.
The event will be held rain or shine with only severe weather causing its cancellation. If in doubt, call 413-794-9816 for an update.

A free wellness fair for those over 55 will be June 15, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Springfield College’s Blake Athletic Complex, 263 Alden St., Springfield.
The event, “Thrive after 55,” will be hosted by Health New England and Sen. Eric P. Lesser, D-Longmeadow.
More than 40 local organizations ranging from health and fitness to nutrition and elder law will take part. There also will be seminars and raffle giveaways.
Dr. Emad Helmy Eskander, of East Longmeadow has been appointed medical director for overseeing the psychiatric and prescribing team at the Center for Human Development social services organization of Springfield.
Eskander is a graduate of the Alexandria Faculty of Medicine in Egypt, and completed his psychiatric residency training at the Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with rotations in neurology, substance abuse, electro-convulsive therapy, and psychiatric emergency services. He is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
Eskander is licensed to practice medicine by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and State of Connecticut, and speaks English and Arabic.
