NORTHAMPTON — Police say a toddler was uninjured after falling out of a moving car while still in a car seat Monday morning.
Northampton Police were called around 9:45 a.m. to King Street near its intersection with Finn Street for a report of a traffic accident, according to Capt. John Cartledge.
Police said that while the car was turning from Finn onto King, the almost 2-year-old child in the backseat opened the car door and fell out while still in the car seat.
The driver, whose identity was not released, was issued a citation for improper restraint of a child.
Cartledge said a member of the Northampton Police Department came and properly installed a car seat in the vehicle following the incident.
Both the Northampton Fire Department and the Police Department have staff who are trained to properly install car seats.
