NORTHAMPTON — Lindsay Sabadosa, who is running for the Democratic nomination for the 1st Hampshire District in the Massachusetts House of Representatives, has opened a campaign headquarters in downtown Northampton.
The space is at 76 Gothic St., and a grand opening will be held there Tuesday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. In addition to light snacks, the event will have information about and training for canvassing. Children are welcome.
The 1st Hampshire District was left vacant after its longtime representative, Peter Kocot, D-Northampton, died in February. It covers Northampton, Westhampton, Southampton and Hatfield in Hampshire County.
NORTHAMPTON — On Wednesday, May 30, Northampton City Council President Ryan O’Donnell will kick off his write-in campaign for the Hampshire Franklin and Worcester District state Senate seat formerly held by Stan Rosenberg.
The event will take place at Spare Time Northampton, a bowling alley located on 525 Pleasant Street. It is set to run from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
O’Donnell, running as a Democrat, was previously running for the Democratic nomination for the 1st Hampshire District state House of Representatives seat.
Retired state Rep. Ellen Story is endorsing Mindy Domb to be the Democratic nominee for the 3rd Hampshire District seat.
Story, who served for 24 years in the district that includes Amherst, Pelham and Precinct 1 in Granby, will also be the honorary chairwoman of Domb’s campaign.
“If I were making a list of all the requirements for being successful in the state legislature, Mindy would check every box,” Story said in a press release from Domb’s campaign. “She’s energetic, focused, smart and savvy.”
Domb is the executive director of the Amherst Survival Center.
Domb and Eric Nakajima are running in the Democratic primary, which will be held Sept. 4. State Rep. Solomon Goldstein-Rose is running as an independent for re-election as 3rd Hampshire representative in November.
Eric Nakajima, a candidate running for the Democratic nomination for the 3rd Hampshire District, recently participated in the Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies National Leadership Academy in Washington, D.C.
Nakajima was one of more than 50 participants in the National Leadership Academy, which aims to provide Asian American and Pacific Islander elected officials with the skills and resources needed to excel, both in their current office and for advancing to higher office.
Nakajima and MindyDomb are running in the Democratic primary, which will be held Sept. 4. State Rep. Solomon Goldstein-Rose is running as an independent for re-election as 3rd Hampshire representative in November.
NORTHAMPTON — Quentin Palfrey, a former Obama White House official and nonprofit leader running for lieutenant governor, has been endorsed by Northampton Mayor David Narkewicz.
Narkewicz, a Northampton Democrat, is the first Massachusetts mayor to endorse in the Democratic primary for lieutenant governor.
Palfrey has also been endorsed by Sens. Eric Lesser, D-Longmeadow.
State Rep. John Scibak, D-South Hadley, has endorsed Ryan O’Donnell in his campaign for state senate for the Hampshire Franklin and Worcester District seat.
In his endorsement, Scibak emphasized the importance of experience to compensate for the sudden loss of seniority in the western Massachusetts delegation, following the resignation Rosenberg, the death of state Rep. Peter Kocot, the upcoming departures of Scibak himself and Rep. Stephen Kulik, and the prior departure of state Rep. Ellen Story.
Previous endorsements of O’Donnell include Northampton city councilors Bill Dwight, Gina-Louise Sciarra, and Alisa Klein, among several other local city and town representatives in Hampshire County.
