Troubled by cartoon showing family separated

I am a 93-year-old retired social worker and family therapist.

I am deeply troubled by your May 30 cartoon showing a mother and her children apparently seeking U.S. asylum being brutally separated from each other. Removing children from their parents is an unacceptable breach of our legal and humanitarian code of ethics.

For me, the family is the basis of our society. Once the family is torn apart, reunion is neither an easy or simple process.
