HOLYOKE – Police are saying there was no foul play in the death of a 32-year-old man whose body was pulled from the Connecticut River in Holyoke on Thursday.
Nelson Caballero’s body was pulled from the river by police, according to Holyoke Police Lt. Jim Albert. Albert said that initial information had Cabellero’s last residence as Williamsburg although police now believe he was living in Holyoke at the time of his death.
Holyoke Police received a call around 2 p.m. on June 14 for a report of a man’s body in the river in the High Rock area near Jones Point. Several units responded including Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Hampden County district attorney’s office and the Holyoke Fire Department.
Caballero’s body was taken by the medical examiner’s office to determine a cause of death, according to Albert. His death is not being ruled suspicious and police are still investigating, Albert said.
