Dylan Ostrowski hit a three-run triple, powering a nine-run first inning that helped the Northampton Sandy Koufax baseball team defeat Westfield1, 13-3, in five innings Monday.

The victory put Northampton in the winners bracket of the double-elimination tournament.

Ostrowski went 2-for-4 and scored a run.

Zack Oโ€™Connell tripled on a 2-for-3 day and drove in two runs. Luke Gaida (double) was 2-for-3, scored three runs and had two RBIs.

Frontier 10, Hatfield 1 โ€” Kevin Baumann and Gehrig Brynda combined for seven RBIs in a postseason Sandy Koufax win. Tom Alber tripled and drove in a run, and Matt Como doubled and drove in a pair of runs.

Frontier will host Pioneer in a winners bracket game at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. Hatfield will travel to Mohawk in an elimination game at the same time.

Softball

Frontier Red 6, Greenfield 5 (6) โ€”Third baseman Jess Campbell threw out a Greenfield runner at the plate for the final out in the sixth, sealing the 12-and-under Suburban League win.

The game was called after six innings because of darkness.

Brianna Storozuk drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the fifth.

Anna Dyjach hit a two-run single. Hailey Hutkoski had an RBI.

Ashley Taylor and Casidy Muchenski singled for Frontier (4-2).

Bay State Games

Hampshire Regional sophomore Maddie Pond was a member of the gold-medal winning West girls basketball team. Pond had five 3-pointers and the game-winning assist to Druryโ€™s Brooke DiGennaro as the West beat Metro, 84-81, on Sunday.

Granby senior Summer Molin was a member of the silver-medal winning West girls soccer team. Molin scored a goal during pool play for the West (3-1-1), which fell 2-1 to Southeast in the gold medal game.

The West girls volleyball team won bronze with help from Lauren Davenport (Frontier Regional), Ashley Telega (Frontier), Reilly Isler (Frontier), Elizabeth Fuqua (Frontier) and Georgia Quesnelle (Sunderland, Deerfield Academy). West beat Southeast, 2-1, in the third-place match.

Ultimate

Boston Brute Squad 15, Russia Brilliance 12 โ€” Angela Zhu had two goals and two assists as Boston (4-0) stayed undefeated in the womenโ€™s division at the World Ultimate Club Championships in Ohio.

Amber Sinicrope added three assists, while Claudia Tajima had one.

Zhu, Sinicrope, Tajima and Tulsa Douglas are all Amherst Regional graduates.

Zhu has five goals and two assists over four games. Sinicrope (goal) has nine assists. Tajima has two assists and one goal, while Douglas has one goal.

Boston beat Colombia Bamboo (15-9), France Yaka (15-4) and Canada Fusion (15-3) previously.
