The South Hadley field hockey team peppered East Longmeadow’s goal with shots, eventually a couple got by in a 2-0 home win Wednesday night.
The Tigers had 26 shots on goal.
“We were really banging on the door,” South Hadley coach Tara Cole said.
Savannah Sudyka scored one goal assisted by Bella Yee. Kayla Carlton added the other tally, lifting the shot over East Longmeadow’s keeper.
South Hadley goalie Brooke Blair only needed to make one save in the shutout. The Tigers (2-1, 2-1 Valley) kept possession in the Spartans’ half.
They amassed 15 corners in the game.

Mahar 6, Smith Academy 0 — Wyatt Jeffress made four saves, and Ryan Belina stopped three shot for the Falcons (1-1, 0-1 McGrath).
South Hadley 8, Taconic 0 — Lindsay Marjanski and Reese Carey each scored twice in a road win. Olivia Blaney, Farrell Dawson, Sydney Mercier and Amy Hampson also found the net for the Tigers (3-0).
Taegan Gawron and Elyse Manzi added assists.
Williston 2, Cheshire 0 — Campbell Nyarady scored two goals, and Selena Negron stopped four shots to earn her first career shutout.
Emily Zambarano and Julia Farnham had assists as the Wildcats (1-0) outshot Cheshire 22-4.
Southwick 3, Smith Vocational 0 — Haleigh Pensivy had three kills, a block and an ace, but the Vikings (1-2, 1-1 Metro) lost 25-15, 25-12, 25-9.
Marissa Rodrigues added two digs and an assist. Sarah Paradee (dig) and Nyisha Saltis served an ace each.
