The Hopkins Academy girls soccer team overturned a halftime deficit to beat Pope Francis, 3-1, Wednesday in Hadley.
Senior Sammy Jenks converted a penalty kick in the 49th minute to tie the game before freshman Tia Fyden scored four minutes later off a pass from senior Mary Kate Farnham to put the Golden Hawks in the lead.
Farnham added an insurance tally in the final minute to secure the win.
Megan Jolly made six saves in net for Hopkins (1-6), while her Pope Francis counterpart, Tanner Longo, stopped seven shots.
West Springfield 1, Northampton 1 — Caroline Tanner gave the Blue Devils (2-3-2) a 1-0 lead in the first half with an assist from Gabby Katz, but Hamp settled for the draw at home.
Syd Lewandowski made eight saves for Northampton.
Northampton 4, Westfield 0 — The Blue Devils (2-3-3) broke out in the second half en route to the road win.
Marissa Badorini scored from Shea Crowther to give Hamp a 1-0 lead at the break.
Crowther fed Emilia Pelis to make it 2-0. Tucker Shaw-Merrigan scored his first varsity goal with an assist from Badorini for a 3-0 edge.
Pelis capped the win with an assist from Grace McCauley-MacDonald.
Ella Moreau made one save in the first half. Sara Grimaldi stopped three in the second for the combined shutout.
Minnechaug 2, Frontier Regional 0 — The Red Hawks (4-2-2) were even with the Falcons at the break, but fell on the road as Minnechaug broke through in the second half.
Skyla Burniske made 11 saves and Cassidy Bardwell played well in front of her keeper for Frontier.
The Falcons had 10 corners to the Red Hawks’ six.
Longmeadow 4, South Hadley 0 — The Tigers, who trailed 2-0 at the half, hit the post a couple times and had some breakaways, but fell at home against the Lancers.
Savannah Sudyka hit the post twice, Kayla Carleton made some strong runs along the wing and freshman Gabi Moroney had a couple breakaways for South Hadley, which had six corners to Longmeadow’s nine.
Brook Blair made four saves while Breann Foley stopped some opportunities in front during the loss.
Belchertown 8, Mahar 0 — The Orioles (6-2) led 3-0 at halftime en route to the blowout at home.
Zach Lajuenesse had two goals, while Evan Fournier (two assists), Korey Houle, Jacob Torna (assist), Joe Bianco, Ben Laughner and Evans Payen each had one tally.
Max Caron and Matteo Picardi each had one assist, while Chris Tilton (four saves) and Matt Tilton (three saves) shared time in net.
South Hadley 6, Granby 1 — Tyler Evans had three goals, and Liam Joy had two goals and one assist as the Tigers (6-1-0, 5-1-0 Schmid) rolled at home.
Jonas Clark added one goal, while Alex Lerch and Max McCurdy each had one assist. Clayton Kopi made one save in the win.
Dylan Moriarty scored and Liam Brown had an assist for the Rams (0-7, 0-5 Schmid). Dominic Nomakeo had 11 saves for Granby.
Westfield Tech 2, Smith Vocational 1 — Senior Tom Doyle made 18 saves, but it was not enough for the Vikings.
Sophomore Dylan Fil answered Westfield’s opening strike with a header off senior Jacob Rafus’ corner kick. Vitaly Bordin scored both goals for Westfield.
Sci Tech 3, South Hadley 1 — The Tigers dropped a tough match at home 27-25, 19-25, 25-12, 30-28.
Junior Kayla Simon smacked down 14 kills and four aces for the Tigers (6-2), while senior Kayla Roy added five aces and 12 assists. Brooke Zatowski chipped in 21 digs as well.
Easthampton 3, Greenfield 0 — The Eagles (3-3) improved as the match progressed as they evened their record with the 25-21, 25-10, 25-15 win at home.
Autumn Pinard led Easthampton with 16 assists and one ace. Christine Dabek added eight kills and one ace. Olivia Durand and Bryce Nelson (four digs) each had two kills and one ace.
